Do Your Children Live Up To Your Expectations?

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will live it's whole life believing it is stupid." --Albert Einstein

Does your child fly through math, but struggle to read the most simple of books?

Do you have a creative dreamer who can tell the most exciting stories, but is unable to sit quietly for more than five minutes?

As parents it’s so easy to focus on those area’s we see lacking in our children. If we’re not careful our entire effort can be to equip their weaknesses and never notice their strength’s.

Let me share a personal experience with you....., A few years ago my oldest son was starting highschool and because of a learning disability he was incredibly behind in math. I decided that we were going to dedicate the whole year to helping him catch up in this one subject.

We hired a math tutor, sent him to a Classical Home education program, stopped our online learning, and pretty much focused only on academics! I remember having thoughts about making him responsible even if it killed me. I worried that he was too focused on people and not enough on responsibility.

We stopped the co-op classes where he had previously thrived in literary analysis, public speaking and other personality led classes. By the end of the school year he was not the same kid. He went from being the life of the party to being sullen and quiet. He went from being glass half full to glass half empty.

His year-end testing showed that after all the money and hard work, he actually made less progress academically then the year before. Even the subjects he had always thrived in took a hit. He didn't go backwards, but he made less forward progress.

It was that year that I learned about the Clifton Strength Finder 2.0 test and began assessing my son, myself, my husband and my other children to find out what made them thrive. As we changed gears and pursued passion and strength our family took off like never before.

I am now the LOUDEST advocate for Strength's Based living. As a matter of fact, I've dedicated a huge portion of my life to teaching homeschooling families about Strength's Based Homeschooling.

Did you know that experts have found that when you focus on a persons passion or strength, their weaknesses actually become STRONGER?

In comparison, they found that when you work on equipping a weakness a strength becomes watered down or mediocre.

What does your child do well?

What are they passionate about?

Let go of status quo and aim BIG! Help your children learn how to chase after their dreams right now while they're young and they will carry it into their adult lives.

"For I know the plans I have for you, (your children) plans to prosper them and not to harm them, plans to give them a Hope and a Future!
