Question Writing IHIP better to have more or Less

So my question is when we are writing the IHIP goals for our children: Is it better to list less goals or objective and then add more as time goes on ? Or is it better to list a lot of goals for the child? I guess what I mean is would we be penalized if we had 6 goals listed for our child but we only met 4 by the end of the year? thanks

I don't know what state you are in. But in most states I feel that less is better. The less information we give the state the better off we are. You want to include enough to fit your state laws but no more. In some states you may be penalized for not meeting all of your goals. I would suggest that you stop by the forum for your state. You can get advice there from others who have been through the legal system in your state.

Good point - we are in NY state.
I truly have no idea how to write one so I am looking for samples and guidelines online .
Unfortunately my daughter is also in special ed so it complicates things as to what needs to be on there.
I was actually told at her meeting years ago that social studies and science were optional for kids in the life skills class.
I am trying to see if that has to go on the IHIP or not but I am stuck between phone calls from one district person to the other
    its crazy

I suspected New York by the terminology you used. Not many states have an IHIP. There is a great resource page for New York paperwork here. You might want to check it out.

There is also a special needs forum on here that you might find helpful.
