handwriting?

I'm trying to find what and how we're supposed to be doing for 5th grade handwriting. Any ideas?

We have used Handwriting Without Tears. But it has caused lots and lots of tears for us. My son is just so opposed to writing anything. Many people have used it with great success. A lot of people use the spelling lists and things that are on Spelling City to practice handwriting. They have handwriting practice printables.

Unless his handwriting is illegible, I wouldn't worry about handwriting in 5th grade. If he already knows the strokes but his handwriting is just horrible, you may want to look into copywork books instead handwriting books.

My kids are younger, but I have them write five words everyday from the list in the teaching guide. It is just enough writing for practice and hopefully will make them remember how to spell some of the words.

www.donnayoung.org has some fonts to download for free. The website offers fonts for both cursive and print.
I always make our own worksheets for tracing/copying (kids are different ages). The kids tell me what they want to write about, I print in their favorite colors and of course I add some fun pictures to that. We often work with lapbooks, so I sometimes make the worksheets to go with that. My 4 year old and 6 year old are doing Finding Nemo lapbooks now, so right now they have green print copywork with little fish swimming across the pages.
