Default Apple Pie Day for Oregon homeschoolers is May 7th!

Apple Pie Day is an annual event for Oregon homeschoolers. It takes place at the Capitol building in Salem.

On May 7, between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., homeschoolers can drop off an apple pie in the basement of the Capitol. Each legislator and the governor will be given a home-baked apple pie and a packet of information promoting home education. There's a home education class at 9:00 a.m. A home education rally begins at noon on the steps of the Capitol.

Homeschooled students have the opportunity to sing with a statewide choir of other homeschoolers, enter a photo contest, and serve as pages.

Families are encouraged to schedule a ten-minute visit with their legislators.

This is a popular event that is very well attended and well received by those at the Capitol.

Here's some more information about Oregon homeschoolers' Apple Pie Day.

Default Apple Pie Day for Oregon homeschoolers for 2011 is March 31st.

Home educators in Oregon converge on the legislature in Salem to take the message that "Home Education Freedom Works!" along with an apple pie to every legislative office.
