Many of us will be at least touching on the history of the World Trade Center and other attacks on September 11, 2001 today. If you want to tie in a writing assignment with your study, here are three different writing prompts for different grade levels:

ELEMENTARY WRITING PROMPT
The site where the Twin Towers came down in New York City is commonly known as "Ground Zero" now. Research where that term came from and write a short report about it. (You can use Time4Writing's free report writing graphic organizer, too!)

MIDDLE SCHOOL WRITING PROMPT
Watch either a livestream or a video of one of the memorial ceremonies going on in the U.S. today. Then, write from the perspective of a journalist who has "attended" the ceremony and try to convey how it went to your "readers." (Don't forget to use descriptive language!)

HIGH SCHOOL WRITING PROMPT
Read the 9/11 essay "A Time of Gifts" and then write a short essay about the view of human nature that the essayist expresses. (Use Time4Writing's high school guide to essay writing as a resource.)
