How can I be approved so that I may post and reply to discussions, poles, etc.? I am a homeschooling mom who works full time and I am just about to embark on my next educational journey myself. I could really use the interaction with other moms in my situation Many thanks!

Hi, I am not sure how all of this works I am still new to the forum and homeschooling. So here it goes, my name is Sara. I am the mother of 3 and two in school now. I recently began homeschool my son and daughter 1st grade and 3rd grade because we moved here to El Paso and the public school will not take my children because they said they are too full and would have to be bussed 45 minutes away, so we began homeschooling right away.
I was wondering if there is anyone else out there in the El Paso area?

    Hello
Im not sure how this posting works,,My name is Annie, I recently pulled my two boys 15,and 13 OUT of public school, I was really scared at first. About 2 weeks after pulling them out, My son age 11, called me while at school from his cell phone scared to death and wanted me to pick him up. He was hiding outside of the school.

Well needless to say I got over my fear of pulling anyone of them out of school! my boy hasnt been back since.
I am very new to homeschooling. I signed my 11 yr old up for T4L.. Tomorrow will be our first day.

The last two weeks of trying to homeschool my older boys has been pretty much trial and error, when all else fails its off to the library .

I am a mom of 8 children, ages range from 28 to 11 yrs,, this is my first time ever homeschooling. I still have a 13 yr old daughter who insist in staying in school. (we shall just see about that!) LOL!

    Peace

    Hi!

We are not new to T4L but are using it our as main HS source. My son (11yrs) wanted to go back to traditional school this year. We were there for 7 weeks when the Principal & Teachers said they didn"t think they were a good match for us. I think my son wanted to be in a classroom setting with other kids but was not willing to follow along. He was board with the work & lecturing. Anyway, I would like to know what other families are doing to get the kids involved with other kids. We have one child. I know he would like to be involved with other kids that are doing the samething such as HS. Any suggestions would be great.

MommyL - Hello, I am new to HS. I saw that you have a lot of incite into HS in OH & I need some help as soon as I can possibly get it--I'm running out of time to send my forms in.I am in the process of filling out my Ohio Notification Form to send to my school district. I don't understand what I am supposed to put in the "outline" and "list" for #6 and #7 (see below) since my curriculum is Time4Learning. How do I "list/outline" that?!
    6. Brief outline of the intended curriculum for the current year. Such outline is for informational purposes only.
    7. List of:___textbooks; ___correspondence course;___commercial curricula; or___other basic teaching materials that the parent intends to use for home education.
Thank you in advance for your time~MommyL

Hi, I wasn't able to reply to this as a group post so am sending it privately... My daughter is not dyslexic but has learning delays. A modified Orton-Gillingham approach worked very well for her. It's a multi-sensory key word approach. If you go to www.orton-gillingham.com you can view their resource list. Their "language tool kit" is very well priced. I also recommend checking out www.intervention.schoolspecialty.com for resources for learning to read, spell and write. As well the International Dyslexia Association has resource information. I highly recommend finding an educational therapist in your area. My daughter received one-on-one intervention through NILD (www.nild.net). They are located throughout the country. Please feel free to ask any questions and take care!
