    Lately, my daughter has been begging me to take her clothes shopping. She tells me that she has very few clothes that fit her anymore. Let me make it clear that this girl has TONS of clothes!! Part of the problem is that most of them are either in her hamper, or most likely in her floor, piled in her closet ...

    This week in my email I received a post that said, "Give your children as many..."see it, touch it, smell it, taste it, breathe it, live it" opportunities as possible!

    They will always come away learning more than you could possibly pack into a lesson plan or syllabus."

    The more I thought about this the more I realized how true it is. I do try to provide as many hands on activities for my son as possible, That is why we are on the go all the time.

    This is going to be a heavy post, just warning you. This past week, one of my kids' friends shared with me that she cuts herself. We will call this teen "Beth" to protect her identity. Since she told me, my heart has been breaking for Beth. I can't help but think of how many teens there are out there who feel that this is the only way they have to deal with the overwhelming emotions they have.

  5. Teaching Art

    There are so many different ways to teach art. My son worked through the Time4Art program that Time4Learning.com has. He also has been taking monthly art classes at our local art museum. These have been great experiences for him. I remember 6 years ago when I took him to the first class at the art museum. After we left the class I asked him what he thought of it.
