We love to read at our house. Long before my son was born we began collecting books for him. He has so many books now that they don't all fit on the two bookcases he has in his room. Our bedroom has floor to ceiling bookcases on two walls that are full to overflowing with books. I have started getting books on my computer using Kindle for my laptop just to save space on the books that we buy.

Sometimes I have been really disappointed when I buy a book that has a really good review but when I get it, the book just doesn't interest me. For this reason I love to look at the books before I buy them. When my son was little, we used to go to the bookstore and spend hours looking at books. He would nap in the stroller while we enjoyed our afternoon. Now that he is older, he doesn't really like to just go sit at the bookstore any more. So I do most of my shopping online. I love the way you can preview a book on Amazon.com. You click on the Look Inside link and it lets you turn the pages of the book and look through it online. Another good way to preview books is to read blogs about the books.

We especially like to read books about homeschoolers at our house. Or books that are written by homeschoolers. One of my favorite books, Terror of Porridge, was written by the young son of a friend of mine. Jack was only 8 years old when he wrote this book. He finally had it published when he was 14. Jack now has a game that he has developed to go along with the book. It's so nice to be able to say that I know Jack and his mother personally. Hey Jack, are you going to remember me when you're rich and famous?

Reading is so important to all of us in our family. What is your favorite book to read about homeschoolers or by homeschoolers?
