If you spend any time on Facebook at this time of year then you have probably seen the posts. From the first day of November to Thanksgiving day, people share what they are thankful for. I think this is a wonderful tradition. Maybe we can take it one step further?? How about we challenge ourselves to find something to be grateful EVERY day of the year? I think I'm going to give myself that challenge for the new year.
In the mean time, this was my post for today:
When we have a grateful heart it is much easier to be content with our circumstances. We tend to be less grumpy with everyone around us. It's also a wonderful example to set for our kids! Homeschooling is about much more than academics for most parents. It's about teaching positive character traits. I believe that learning to have a thankful heart should be near the top of that list!
I love this graphic with the thankful hearts collecting in a jar. It is a great illustration of how when we make a habit of being thankful, it's like we are collecting gratitude in our heart. As we do it more and more it will become second nature.
It's not always easy to be thankful when everything seems to be going wrong. But I'm finding that there is always SOMETHING to be thankful for. Dishwasher broken down?? Be thankful you have dishes to wash and food to dirty them! Frustrated with doing laundry AGAIN? Be thankful that you have clothes to wear! Roof leaking?? Be glad that you have a roof over your head and walls around you! I think I've made my point.
So what are YOU thankful for today??
