What is your main focus in homeschooling? Do you spend more time on academics or character training, or a combination of both? This will depend much on your philosophy of education, your personal beliefs and why you chose to homeschool in the first place.

For example, as a family, we are Christians and my husband and I feel a responsibility to pass our faith on to our children. While we feel that academics are important, for us teaching our children to live out their faith is essential.

That's only one aspect of character development though. We are also working to develop kids with a strong work ethic, who are courteous to others, who are honest and trustworthy. This is why we have our children do daily chores and discipline them when they are disrespectful or disobedient. This is why when one of my kids does a sloppy job of completing one of their chores, we make them go back and re-do it until they get it right.

What is YOUR focus in homeschooling? What kinds of things do you do to accomplish this goal?
