Default Summer Christian camps, VBS, Mission trips......

    Hi all.

Did your kids do any summer Christian retreats or camps? Mission trip? If so, what was their experience? Have you done any as a family? How about Vacation Bible School?

When my kids were little, I'd take find at least two or three Vacation Bible Schools to take them to. They loved them. I still have one young enough to attend. She went a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. She learned several new songs with hand motions, made some crafts, learned some new Bible verses and made new friends.

My older two are at a Christian camp for the next two weeks with our church. They went a couple of years ago and came back on fire. Praying for same results again. They loved it.

So what experiences have you all had?

We enjoy the summer time and take things easy! We also like to celebrate the quirky little holidays that come up during the summer - like Ice Cream Sundae Day and even Sugar Cookie Day...(which by the way, is July 9th - celebrate with us and whip up a batch of these goodies!)

    Sugar Cookie Recipe
    1/2 c butter softened
    1/2 c crisco
    1 c sugar
Beat butter and shortening till fluffy - add sugar
    1 c powdered sugar
    2 eggs
    3/4 c vegetable oil
    2 t vanilla
Mix thoroughly - then add dry ingredients
    4 c flour - add a little at a time
    1 t baking soda
    1 t salt
    1 t cream of tartar
Chill for a couple of hours
Shape dough in balls or shapes
Bake 2" apart on cookie sheets at 350* for 10-11 minutes Add icing or sprinkles.
