Post BBB #2: What You Need to Know About Time4Learning

Time4Learning is not a school. Time4Learning is an online curriculum that can be used for homeschooling, after-school enrichment, or summer learning.

Time4Learning provides the curriculum and parents use it their way. Compare Time4Learning to a fun alternative to purchasing a stack of textbooks. The textbook publisher may provide teacher's editions, but they will not oversee how you use the teacher's manuals or texts, they will not require any of your child's former school records, and they do not award credit for books your student has read or work your student has completed. See Homeschool Versus Online School.

Time4Learning mainly uses curriculum developed by Compass Learning Odyssey, who only provides it to schools. Time4Learning has acquired a license that allows them to offer it to families and individuals.

Time4Learning has added many tools that allow a curriculum designed for school use to be usable by families. These can be found within your parent login account. In some cases, these tools replace the following classroom tools, which you may notice on your student's dashboard or within your parent account. These classroom tools are NOT used by families: Assignments tab, Odyssey Writer online grading function, Gradebook icon. (Instead, use these tools: Activity Planner, writing assignment grading guides, and Student Reports.)

Time4Learning can't change the design or content of the lessons themselves, as they do not own them. Time4Learning does report user suggestions to the developer.

Compass Learning Odyssey frequently updates or adds material. Time4Learning has added additional, non-Compass material, too (such as the preschool curriculum, Time4Art, and Science4Us). Families are not expected to use all of the offered material or all of the parent tools. Rather, they may select from many options to customize a program that works for their own children.

Newcomers can feel overwhelmed by all the choices. Until you are more comfortable customizing the curriculum for your own students, some general suggestions for each grade level can be found here:

~First and Second Grades (suggestions coming soon)
~Third and Fourth Grades (suggestions coming soon)
~Fifth through Eighth Grades or "Middle School" (suggestions coming soon)
    ~High School (suggestions coming soon)
