Question Can 70 be adusted to now show as failing?

My son gets very upset when he gets a 70. He has a serious perfectionist side when it comes to grades. I consider it passing but when he sees the red 70 there isn't much I can do to undo what is coming next. I figure it is hardwired into the system, but I figured I would ask anyhow.

    Thanks,

    Kelley

Yes, those indicators are programmed in . . . but understanding that 70 ISN'T failing might help! This program is based on mastery, not "passing". Seventy is considered passing pretty much anywhere. It's the equivalent of a C, which is a perfectly average grade.

With Time4Learning, 80 is considered MASTERY! Mastery means the student earned the equivalent of an A (excellent) or a B (above average). Instead of considering it a failure when he doesn't achieve mastery, he should consider it a bonus when he does. Does that make sense? No one can expect a bonus every time.

I hope that helps him feel better about his work.

Mom of six . . . current students and homeschool graduates. Enjoying using Time4Learning since 2006!
