    Aloha Homeschoolers,

Due to demand, the following class will be offered no only in North Kohala again, but in both Hilo and Kona in July.

    Anatomy Lab Intensive
Complete a Full Year of Anatomy Labs in Just 2 Days

    North Kohala: Tues July 10th - Wed July 11th - 9:00 to 5:00
    Hilo: Tues July 24th - Wed July 25th - 9:00 to 5:00
    Kona: Tues July 31st - Wed August 1st - 9:00 to 5:00

Let's explore the anatomy of a variety of organisms – including ourselves! Through discussion, demonstration and dissection we'll study major organs, systems and their forms and functions.

Medical terminology, laboratory techniques and record keeping will be utilized throughout as students prepare and critique lab reports.

Tools, safety equipment, games, handouts, web resources and more will be provided to keep students' interest high and help them learn deeply.

We'll examine tissues using the ProScope HR™, the latest technology in digital microscopy, and compare animal structures to virtual human structures using Visible Body 3D Human Anatomy software.

The best learning happens when class is lively and fun, but students will be reminded to treat all activities with respect for the animals providing the specimens.

    Dissections planned:

    • Fetal pig (double injected)
    • Sheep brain
    • Cow heart
    • Cow lung and trachea
    • Cow eyeball
    • Fish
    • Crayfish (single injected)
    • Frog (triple injected)
    • Virtual grasshopper

Pre-workshop prep: Approximately 6 hours of guided home study

Instructors: Kristin Wohlschlagel, RN and Maureen Combes, BA
    Cost: $145 tuition + $50 materials fee
    Location: Kona (specific location TBA)
Class limit: 12 students, suggested ages 12-18
Call to enroll: Kristin 808-889-1110 or Maureen 808-494-4237

Wed Jul 11, 2012 11:04 pm (PDT) . Posted by:

    "Suzanne Swanson" smswanson6

If you are interested in participating in these classes, please contact
Kimi Hill directly at [email protected] net.

    Aloha Parents,
HCCA will be opening this year as the Lord has brought a few students to
start the school. We will be opening our part time and full time program
in Aug of 2012 with grades 3-8. Any interested parents please contact me
or see our website www.hccacademy. org <http://www.hccacade my.org/>
We have a new location at 29 Shipman St. Rm 102. It is right across the
Hilo Armory in the Koehnen's Alley across the hall from Hawaii Fitness
    Center.
I hope everyone is having a great summer. The new school year is right
around the corner. Our new Elective Classes for homeschooling families
are in process so see tentative classes below. Please e-mail me if your
children are interested in attending any classes. If we don't have
enough interest in a class we will drop the class. Classes start Friday,
Aug 10-Nov 16, 15 classes in all and then a presentation night. If any
parent would like to offer a class please let me know asap (so far we
have no classes geared to the younger ages). Finalized schedule will be
out the last week of July. Parents are welcome to hang and help out as
necessary or leave kids in classes. Each child needs to be signed up for
a class at all times if staying on premises.
Cost for the classes are $10/day or class or $40/month. $120 for the
Fall session. I have tried to keep this as reasonable as possible,
please contact me if this is a hardship. Some classes have greater
materials than others and some instructors have a fee.

Please kokua and send to any groups or folks who might be interested.
    Friday Elective Classes:
12:30-2:30 Puppets and Masks with Uncle Lee, children make puppets and
masks and will perform an original work at EHCC at the end of the
