    Exclamation Texas Virtual Acedemy

Does anyone have a child that is doing online high school?
We are considering it for the rest of 10th grade. We want to try it and wondered what feedback or suggestions families had. Texas Virtual Academey might be who we sign up with.

I know Texas has a few options, and the Texas Connections sounded good, just very demanding.

    Thanks, new mom,

Hi, Mary. Texas Virtual Academy, Connections Academy, and that type of thing aren't homeschooling. They are online schools, which people often mistakenly refer to as "homeschooing", because the work is done at home. Homeschooling isn't about where the word is done, though. It's about who is in charge of your child's education (and what state laws you need to follow). The virtual academies and online schools are themselves responsible for following the state's school laws (not homeschool laws).

Time4Learning is a homeschool curriculum, not an online school. If you use Time4Learning, you direct your student's education and you are responsible for following the homeschool laws in your state. Texas is easy! Here is a link to Texas homeschool laws.

Hopefully someone who is actually from Texas will stop by soon with their opinion.

Mom of six . . . current students and homeschool graduates. Enjoying using Time4Learning since 2006!
