My son is 14, and the public school system has failed him. They do not have the resources to help him and ignore all of my concerns. His teachers states they he should go year round, and need extra help in reading. However, they continue the same every year and it is not working. My child is on a 4th grade reading level. I am going to start homeschooling at the end of the school year. He will not be going into eight grade. He just get further behind every year. I work with his sight words every day and he reads with a parent for half hour every day.

I am scared that I am doing the wrong thing, but something has to change. He will not being going back until he is on grade level. I have the following questions:
How do you make the transition from public school to homeschooling?
What resources do you use and need to make this success?

Any advice you can give will be appreciate.
