    Default high school electives

I'm trying to find an answer to whether or not spelling could be used as a high school elective. It is not a public school requirement beyond elementary school and it is certainly a life skill. I feel that if gardening, persuasive writing, etc are counted, something like spelling should not be an extension of English, but more of a life skill, hence an elective.

Hi there! I'm not in Maryland and don't have personal experience, but here are the Maryland homeschool laws. I don't see anything specifically about electives here, so you may want to ask your local school board. Generally, spelling isn't a subject in and of itself, but is included under the blanket of language arts or english.
