"Umbrella" in Washington County, MD? Who does the reviews?
A former homeschool mom, as all of her children have graduated, told me that she was under an "umbrella." The "umbrella" did the reviews. Washington County, MD, guidelines says that a coordinator from the WCPS will review after each semester. Isn't that the public schools intervening? Is there an "umbrella" in Wash Co? I plan on teaching my son from time4learning.net. Is that the umbrella? My son is still in the public school system but not after June 12. I will appreciate instructions on how to lay the groundwork. Thank you.

An umbrella organization is an approved alternate supervising/review group. It is like signing up for a private school with you responsible for the homeschooling but the umbrella provides the administration and review, instead of the county. We use Many Paths of Natural Learning mpnl.org which has a tremendous benefits for very modest enrollment price.
