Hi, Melany. I provided some resources on one of your other posts. Why is it important for your kindergartner to learn to read so quickly? Reading is a developmental skill, like walking. We can help and encourage the process, but one of the quickest ways to stop all progress is to demand more than the child is capable of at the moment.

Mom of six . . . current students and homeschool graduates. Enjoying using Time4Learning since 2006!

ita ... every kid is different. my eldest taught himself to read by 4, 2nd child still struggles a lot and she's 8, and my 3yo is recognizing letters. don't stress it, it will come when she's ready. the thing to do at her age is making reading fun. read books that she wants to read even if you've read them 1000 times (i've read so much cinderella i could hurl!! lol). a good friend of mine that is a teacher likes to have her kids read the book backwards. it proves that they're not just memorizing books and it sounds silly so the kids like it. make cards with familiar words and play hopscotch with them or have them make funny sentences or pictionary or anything fun that might click with her. if her adhd is serious, she might be able to find something to click that will help her. video games worked for my son's friend. let us know how it goes!!
