    Hey all! Hope everyone is enjoying their summers so far. Wanted to see what kind of fun summer stuff you guys have planned. Any cool field trips, activities, etc. up your sleeves?

    For those of you who may not have anything planned, here are a few things I found that are going on around the state...

    Monday, July 4 - Cottage Grove 4th of July Celebration
    Celebrations will be begin at 6:00 p.m. at Kingston Park in Cottage Grove with a family style picnic, games and food on Monday July 4th. Fireworks will go off around 10 p.m. The Cottage Grove Lions will be hosting the event and selling raffle tickets. They will be selling Cold Stone ice cream, candy, hotdogs, brats plus pop and water.

    Where: Kingston Park, Inidan Blvd & 75th Street in Cottage Grove
    When: 6:00 PM
    Who: Family Friendly
    How: Just show up
    Cost: FREE. Concessions extra

    Monday, July 4 - Oakdale Fireworks + Rockin Hollywoods
    Free Family Fun! The summer concert series continues this week with the Rockin Hollywoods! Afterward, stick around for the 4th of July fireworks celebration.

    Where: Walton Park Bandshell, 1584 Hadley Avenue in Oakdale
    When: 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
    Who: Family friendly
    How: Just show up
    Cost: FREE for all

    Monday, July 4 - Woodbury's Fourth of July Celebration Pack up the lawn chair or bring a blanket to Ojibway Park for Woodbury’s annual holiday observance. The celebration begins at 7 p.m. with entertainment featuring “Darlene and the Boys,” a five-piece classic country/variety band that performs music by artists such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Patty Loveless and finishes with the traditional fireworks display at 10 p.m.

    Where: Ojibway Park, 2695 Ojibway Drive in Woodbury. Parking available in the school lot off Woodlane Drive
    When: 7:00 PM
    Who: Family friendly
    How: Just show up*festivities will take place rain or shine.
    Cost: FREE however, Woodbury Rotary Club will be selling glow necklaces with the proceeds going toward the Miracle Field, a ball field designed to accommodate young people with disabilities, which is being constructed at Bielenberg Sports Center.

    Saturday, July 2 - FREE Family Flicks

    The entire family can enjoy select movies for FREE every Saturday morning at the Theatres at Mall of America®. This week, see "Shrek Forever After".

    When: 10:00 AM
    Who: Rated PG
    How: First-come, first-served, seating is limited
    Cost: FREE!

    Thursday, July 7 through Thursday, November 3 - Drum Circle
    Teens can participate in a drum circle in which they will learn basics of hand drumming and other hand percussion instruments.

    Where: Park Grove Library, 7900 Hemmingway Avenue South in Cottage Grove
    When: 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM (Event held every Thursday)
    Who: Teens (ages 12-17)
    How: Register w/librarian or HERE (limited to 15 teens)
    Cost: FREE! (equipment provided)

    Thursday, July 14 - Teen Songwriting Workshop

    If you want to write songs, or already do and want to share your music, or need inspiration, or just want to meet other teens who share your musical interest - please join us! Instruments welcome too. Class taught by Lynn O'Brien, singer/songwriter/performer/Music Therapist.

    Where: Oakdale Branch Library, Library Meeting Room, 1010 Herron Avenue North
    When: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
    Who: Especially for teens

    By the way... here is the site that I found these things on. It's a great resource for things going on around you. You can just pick your state, then pick your city/area! Most of the states seem to have weekly posts, if not more often, about things that are happening.
