Default How to start a homeschool group?

I've gotten so frustrated with trying to find an inclusive group close enough to Grenada to make it feasible for my family to participate that I have finally given up and decided to try and start my own. But honestly, I have no idea where to start or how to go about it. I figured this was one of the best places to start getting information and ideas.

My idea so far is to just arrange occasional park days, just so that my children have the opportunity to make friends, and if that works, maybe other activities can be scheduled. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get started, or at least find other homeschooling parents to invite?

Put up a notice at your local library. Post a notice at any little healthfood stores or coops in your area. Start a yahoo group and advertize that.

I've already taken part of your advice and started a Yahoo group.

    grenadaMShomeschoolers : Grenada MS Homeschoolers

I also made a Facebook page.

Anyone is welcome to join or like either, and I hope to round up at least a few local homeschoolers with them.

Thanks, fairylover, for all the advice. I'll be making a few flyers soon to post at the library and a few other places.

Have tried posting on Secular Homeschooling? They might know of inclusive groups in your area as well.

Hi. Any luck? I am struggling with my homeschool group situation as well. Although I am in a somewhat local group they do not have a lot of members with children my son's age and in the 3 months I've been in it we have not done anything with the kids yet.

Keep plugging away at it. Sometimes it takes months to get a good group started.
