We love going to classes and programs out in the community where other people with knowledge of a particular subject can share with us. One of our favorite places to go to is the Beczak Environmental Center in Yonkers, New York. They offer great classes on topics about the Hudson River, life in and around the river, and how the health of the river impacts the environment, as well as many other topics. In the past these classes were very nominally priced. But now, thanks to a grant from ConEd, the classes are free.

We just attended a class on Saturday about the Hudson River Food Chain. Comin in February is a class called Love Your Hudson River. On February 13 at 11:00 and again at 1:00 they will be making Valentines cards for family and friends as well as a special card for the river. On March 13, the step dancers from Yonkers Christine Murray School of Irish Dance will perform at 11:30 am. On March 27 we will learn about the amazing journey birds take throughout the seasons and build a bird feeder. This class will be at 11:00 and again at 1:00. All of these classes are offered for kids from 5 to 12 years old.

Also offered is a special class for 3 to 5 year olds. On February 20, A House For Kermit the Crab. On March 20, The Tiny Seed. These classes are from 10:30 to 11:30 AM AND COST $5.00.

To register for any of these classes call, 914-377-1900 ext. 13 or email: [email protected]

I hope we see you at some of the upcoming classes.
