Default Jewish Education Classes for Homeschoolers

Even though this is in New Jersey, I wanted to let you know about it. Someof you may be close enough to attend.

    Kathi

    Date: Monday February 22, 2010 Time: 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Repeats: This event repeats every week until Thursday March 25, 2010.
    Location: Jersey City Heights
Street: Contact organizer for location @ [email protected]
Notes: Bring a bag lunch and hang out with Jewish Homeschooling friends after! Ages signed up: 6-12.

This class is designed for the student who learns experientially. It is based on the idea of creating a learning community in the non-formal setting that integrates positive relationships with clear learning objectives. This 10 session course in designed to encompass three main components:
    1. Modern Hebrew
    2. Prayer and Biblical Hebrew
    3. Jewish Culture: Customs, Holidays, and Torah.
Each 90 minute session consists of 20 minutes focused on Modern Hebrew, 20 minutes focused creatively developing accurate decoding skills, and 20 minutes focused on Prayers and blessings. The remaining 30 minutes focuses on Jewish Culture, including holidays as they arrive on the calendar, selected topics, and a creative review of the weekly Torah portion.
    General Format
This course is designed to be 10 sessions, however each class is also self contained. The hope is that the course will continue beyond the 10 sessions in order to reinforce the Hebrew skill development as well as to learn about the additional cultural topics as they continue throughout the Jewish calendar. Each session will take place in a home in Jersey City. Students are encouraged to sign for all 10 sessions in order to maximize learning, however it is also possible to attend one session at a time for a higher fee. See flyer for more information.
