Resources
Thanks for sharing your resources!
We have used: (I am not affiliated with any of these programs. They are just some of the resources I've used to keep my grandson interested rather than just doing worksheets and "lessons" all the time. I've found he stays more interested when there's an element of fun and adventure in our lessons rather than just the same old drudgery day after day.)
PBS Learning Media (free): PBS LearningMedia ("PBS LearningMedia™ is the go-to destination for instant access to tens of thousands of classroom-ready, digital resources including videos, games, audio clips, photos, lesson plans, and more! You can search, save, and share with ease. Best of all, PBS LearningMedia is free for educators.)"
Brain POP: BrainPOP - Animated Educational Site for Kids - Science, Social Studies, English, Math, Arts ($9.95/month, no contract) Covers all subjects with preview quizzes then a graded test with the results emailed to "teacher's" email address.
IXL Math: IXL Math | Online math practice and lessons ($9.95/month with 12 month contract) Prepares kids for EOG math testing. Prepares many reports that are saved in your child's "online folder" and also emailed to your email account each time your child uses the site.

Library of children's literature: http://www.childrenslibrary.org/

Fun Brain: FunBrain.com - The Internet's #1 Education Site for K-8 Kids and Teachers - Funbrain.com (free, no membership, no login required)
Moshi Monster: Moshi Monsters - Adopt Your Own Pet Monster! (has both a free and a paid subscription. Games are educational)
This site is great for getting children thinking about technical "stuff": Free Games at ROBLOX.com
Hope this info helps someone.

Kimberly,
There are several EOG threads in our NC forum, but I can answer your question here, as well. You don't need to take your son anywhere to have him tested, you can test him at home, provided you choose a test where at-home testing is an option. The first thing you should do is find out about the several different tests available, select the test that best meets your needs, and follow the requirements for that test. You don't have to submit your test results anywhere, just keep them on file.

Thank you for all the great information. I am new to homeschooling and have a 13 year old daughter in 7th grade that we are currently homeschooling. We live in the Cary area. I am also wondering about state testing since we pulled her out of public school the first of December. Do you have any information on this?

Time4Learning NC Standard Course of Study Aligned?
Hi. Does anyone know if Time4Learning is aligned to the NC Standard Course of Study? I am new to homeschooling and currently researching teaching resources. I have an 8 year old son who will start 2 grade and a 4 year old who will start preK. I would love to hear from all of you who have been using Time4Learning. Do you supplement Time for Learning and which books(names) or workbooks have you found beneficial? I love the on-line format of Time4Learning. One last question, in terms of the annual standardized testing, which test have you used? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Also, we reside in New Bern, Craven County and would be interested in getting in touch with other families in the area. I did a search but could not come up with any homeschool support groups in Craven County. Thank you all so much!
