    Default Where to start...

I want to homeschool my grandchildren this year. They will be in 3rd and 5th grades. What do I need to do in order to get started? I am confused! We live in NC.

In order to homeschool in NC, you need to notify the Division of Non-Public Education. You need to have a high school diploma or equivalent. You need to school on a "regular schedule for at least nine months of the calendar year." You need to keep immunization and attendance records and administer a standardized test once per year. None of those items (attendance, shot records, test scores) need to be mailed in to DNPE, but rather kept on file at your home. I hope that helps!
