I LOVE finding new ways of teaching, learning and SAVING! I'm starting this thread as a way to share with everyone great ways to make things at home. I'll add new ideas and recipes regularly, so come back often!

Below is a recipe for homemade play dough. Most children love getting their hands in on this one. Plus, you can teach a little math in the process by letting the kids help. Enjoy!

Homemade Play Dough

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 cup water
2 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
Few drops of desired food coloring OR
Beet Juice, Carrot Juice, Spinach Juice for natural coloring

Mix flour, salt and oil, and slowly add the water. Cook over medium heat, stirring until dough becomes stiff. Turn out onto wax paper and let cool. Knead the playdough with your hands until of proper consistency. Use as is, or divide into balls and add a few drops of food coloring or vegetable juices to make desired colors. Stores well in zip lock bags at room temperature.
