Science Experiments We have tried;) how about you?

Hi Everyone~
I thought that I would send this cool experiment link along to you to check out! We actually did this
experiment and my boys loved it, why you ask well because they are boys and love to see things get crushed! We actually used a larger bowl of ice water and put it on the floor so that my youngest could see the whole thing. (even a table or chair would work) This something that they need YOU to be right there but it is cool to see. After they tried it a couple of times then we sat down and I explained what happened to make the can crush itself like that!

HI Science Nuts out there (like us)
I am currently doing a science model with my boys and of course we are doing the paper mache kind,
but I wanted to see if there were less messy and time consuming ones out there to do. And of course I found them!
So I thought that I would pass them along with you!
Foil Erupting Volcano (least mess and time)
Dough Erupting Volcano (med. mess and time)
Paper mache Erupting Volcano (large mess and time)
Let me know if you have tried any of these!

Transparent Rubber Egg
Concept:
Chemistry, Acids and Bases
Materials:
●raw chicken egg●white vinegar
●bowl
Thinking and Predicting Question:
What will happen if the egg shell is dissolved?
What to do:
Place a chicken egg in the bowl. Pour enough vinegar into the bowl to completely cover the egg.
After 24 hours, you will notice the shell is starting to dissolve. There will be some floating particles on
top of the bowl. Carefully pour out the old vinegar, and replace it with fresh vinegar.
After 24 more hours have gone by, you will notice that the egg shell will have completely dissolved.
Take it out of the bowl and observe.
What will happen and why:
The vinegar dissolves the eggshell, leaving just a rubbery egg. You can even see the yellow yolk inside!
Turn the egg and you can see the yolk move around. The egg will even bounce if you drop it a few
inches off of the table.
Vocabulary:
dissolve – to chemically break down and seemingly disappear

Floating Egg
Concept:
Buoyancy
Materials:
●
raw egg
●
3 tall, clear glasses
●
salt
●
water
Thinking and Predicting Question:
Which is more buoyant: saltwater or freshwater?
Will the amount of salt added to water affect its buoyancy?
What to do:
Fill all 3 glasses ¾ full with water.
Place a raw egg in glass #1 and observe. (It will sink.)
Put a several tablespoons of salt in glass #2. (Amount depends on the size of the glass.) Stir.
Now place the egg in glass #2 and observe. (Since you have lots of salt, it should float. If not, add
more salt.)
Now put half as much salt in glass #3 as you did in glass #2.
Place the egg in glass #3 and observe. (The egg should float, but not as high.)
Experiment with the amount of salt. Through trial and error, you may be able to get the egg to suspend
itself in the middle of the liquid.
Why this happens:
Salt changes the density of the water, therefore causing objects to be more buoyant.
Vocabulary:
buoyancy – the ability of an object to float in water

Here's one that worked for us too. Bubble Bomb we did this one last year and from what I can remember it worked pretty good!
