At my house, we learn about the holiday traditions in a different country each year. The kids work together to research at the library and online and put together a presentation to give everyone about their chosen country. Then we try to incorporate some of the same customs into our own home that year.

For example, when studying Germany we learned about St. Nicholas, who has his very own holiday where children leave their shoes outside the door and St. Nicholas fills them at night with small trinkets and candy. We also learned about Babushka, the Christmas witch, when studying Russia one year, and ever since there's been a place for some Babushka-fun at our house each December.

So what homeschooling traditions does your family have this time of year?
