It's around the age of three years. If your child is asking questions, able to grasp what is being taught, more independent etc...

Up until about age 3, I just work on daily teaching of what color is this, letter, etc. Recognition. Read to them, interact. At about 3, is when I would start working more with them. And don't forget that play is learning! Everything you do with your child is learning, no matter the age!

I love your advice of reading and interacting with a three-year-old. It is so true that little ones learn through play! The newest brain research supports your advice too. I would caution, however, the teaching of letters until a child has pre-requisite skills. Teaching sounds comes first in the developmental continuum, but this is done after alphabetic principal, the identification of initial, ending, then medial sounds. And then you begin working on letter identification.

my opines that starting school early gives a child the chance of being academically bright compared to a child that starts later on. I joined my kid at the age of 3years at Akshara International School.

Well I enrolled my kid when he was 3 years old in a best Phoenix preschool. It’s the best time for a kid to start learning basics like shapes, colours and numbers with different activities. I hope it helps you!

I feel kids below the age of 2 years should be taught the mere basics like counting and alphabets at home. From the age of 2.5-3 years, parents can try following the preschool curriculum.

For preschool, the age of a child is 2.5 to 3 years is perfect.
