Free Summer Reading Programs for Kids 2012
Perhaps the most important and convenient summer reading program taking place, will be at your local library. Don’t forget to check out your local library to find out which programs they’ll be offering this summer! 4-for-3 Books Storewhere you buy 3 books and the 4th one is free!
Barnes and Noble - This summer reading program through Barnes & Noble gives your child the ability to earn a FREE book after reading 8 books and keeping track of them in a reading log. B&N also has storytime, twice per week for the little ones. Check your local store for details.
Chuck E. Cheese Earn 10 FREE tokens every time your child reads for 2 weeks in a row. Just fill out the form and bring it in to claim your free tokens!
Half Price Books (ages 14 and under) who choose to read at least 15 minutes each day throughout their summer break during June & July will earn $5 HPB Back-to-School Bucks reading reward for each month.
National Amusements has a fun and rewarding summer reading program developed to encourage young children to read during the summer months. BOOKWORM WEDNESDAYS entitles kids to free admission to a select children’s film when they present a book report at a participating Showcase Cinemas, Multiplex Cinemas or Cinema de Lux box office. Accompanying parents or guardians and children under six receive free admission and do not need to submit a book report. You cannot yet sign up for this program, so keep checking back!
PBS Kids This challenge kicks off on June 6th and includes a FREE six week reading program and the chance for your kids to win daily prizes for their participation.
Pottery Barn offers storytime and many other kid – friendly activities. Free storytime for little ones on Tuesday at 11am. You get a little passport and once you attend 5 storytimes, you get a free gift. (Just double check the time by calling ahead to your store.)
Scholastic Log in your reading minutes to the Scholastic site and your child will be able to participate in a World Record challenge as well as earn digital prizes!
Sylvan Book Adventure is a fun, free way to motivate your child to read! Kids in grades K-8 can find a book, take quizzes on what they’ve read, and earn prizes
for their reading success!
