    Smile New homeschooler here

    Hello,

I am new to homeschooling here. It became necessary because 2 of my 6 children have special needs. Both my adopted daughters have fetal alcohol syndrome and were just quickly losing ground in school and starting to lose confidence and joy.

Just curious if any other parents here have children with FAS?

Hi. Not FAS, but yes to a daughter with special needs. I think that regardless of the special circumstances, your child will do much better with one on one attention and with someone who knows them well than in a classroom of 20+ kids. You know your child best and you know how and when to challenge them, and when they need to just take a break or do something differently. Learn your child's learning style and capitalize on that. Usually they are visual or hands-on learners when they're young.

We love using Time4Learning and also get lots of great ideas from Pinterest for creative activities or supplementing.
