    Default Time4learning, iPad and Flash

    Hello,

With the coming release of the iPad, we were wondering if time4learning will be made available for use with the iPad. I understand the compatibility (political) issue between flash and the iPad.

We think that the iPad can become a great tool for teaching and learning.

I am interested in hearing thoughts on this and whether this is viable or not.

    Thanks,
    Emily

    Hi,
No, unfortunately, the program will not be compatible with the ipad since the ipad will not support Flash. Most of the lessons within the program are Flash based.

OK, what about in the future?
    Take a look at this:

I will pass this information on to our technical team. Once the ipad is released, we might be better able to assess compatibility issues.

    Hi,
We have tracked the very slow progress of Flash onto the Iphone for a few years. I've closely read the articles and there are a few "gotchas" which keep us from moving forward here.
    - The announced flash on the Iphone is just an announcement with some demos. It's still not released. sad sigh.
    - When it is released, there is some sort of packager that requires some level of development. All of this is still not clear.

So we are looking forward to it but not counting on it.

    Thanks for the response.

I do hope Steve and Adobe can come to some sort of agreement on this.

Hi. Our introduction - Our 3y4m son Adivishnu started time4learning.com in the Pre-K group and on IPad I-Generation 16GB WiFi both this month, and we (my wife and i) are his study-buddies.

At present, the IPad browser Safari does'nt support flash and hence time4learning does'nt work properly. However, if you install the Apple App "BCloud" (US$0.99 for download) you can use this website successfully in the firefox browser that opens by default in the BCloud app. The free service of BCloud (Cloud computing) allows 10-20mins per session with reliable audio-video performance, and if you subscribe to their premium service (currently offered at US$5.99/month) then there is no time limit on the session and audio-video performance gets a boost. This app with the default firefox browers allows you to use any other website or tool that requires flash almost as if it's installed locally.

    Regards,ram.

    Aloha from Hawaii Ram,

I wanted to thank you for this post. My 8 year old daughter and I are planning a year trip around the world to start in the next month or 2 and so I have been looking to get us iPads for school and the trip. We have used time4learing since pre-K and are happy with it. But because the lack of Flash, I was thinking that we would also have to lug around a small netbook just for the schoolwork. I called Apple 3 times and was told the iPad doesn't have and never will have Flash. But then I found this posting by Ram, and called Apple again, This time I told the "specialist" about this app technique and she confirmed that she got a Flash browser as well using another app. So it is possible to do time4learing on a iPad, and possible in more than one way. I am about to place our orders for an iPad for me and an iPad mini for my daughter so I haven't verified for myself yet.

time4learning should confirm this and update the FAQ and let the parents all know.

Best wishes and Aloha to all the ohana (families)
