Default Vista and Peedy the Parrot?

Our computer OS is Windows Vista, fully updated. On my XP machine, I had it set up for Peedy. However, I am not sure what componets I need to use Peedy with Vista. I have searched and did not find the answer. I do not want to install everything required for Peedy if it is not needed, and I certainly don't want to "down-date" anything and mess my machine up.

What is needed to use Peedy with Windows Vista?

Default Peedy The Parrot Download Info

To operate successfully, Peedy("MS Agent") requires 4 different downloads. Sometimes one of them will corrupt and you'll have to unistall and download again. If you have downloaded all four components needed for using the MS Agent and are still experiencing difficulty, visit Microsoft's Installing MS Agent page to be sure it has been correctly installed with all four necessary components.

Alternately, there is another program that reads online text aloud, even e-mails. It's called "Natural Readers" and it's a free download. They offer support for it on their website too and it's compatible with Time4Learning.

Default Peedy The Parrot Download Info

It's important that you download all 4 of the components in order for Peedy to work. It should not interfere with your Windows Vista.

Select The text to speech engine and then select Lernout & Hauspie TruVoice TTS engine -American English (1MB eze)

Hopefully, this will resolve the issue.

We have also heard positive reports of a free program called "Natural Readers". It works like Peedy the Parrot but actually reads ALL online text, not just certain sections - even e-mails! It is a different program than Time4Learning, but it is compatible with our lessons. Natural Readers offers support through their own website.

Thank you for your reply. I "experimented" by adding things one at a time. On my computer, the only two things I had to install were Peedy and SAPI 4. Peedy works fine with only these two. I am assuming that perhaps the others were already on my machine. I know my Vista Ultimate has text-to-speech, which is what we were using and it worked well but was a little annoying because it read everything on your computer screen, from top to bottom!

    Thanks again.
