    Default Age appropriate learning

Hi! I'm thinking about homeschooling my daughter with special needs. We are having problems finding curriculum at her grade level that is also appropriate for her age. She is 16 reading at a 4th grade level and activities geared to the age bracket are a constant source of frustration and damaging to her self-esteem. Does Time4learning provide interest adaptations for children who are significantly older than their grade levels?

Hi, Jeans. Although students can work at a different grade level in each subject, the Time4Learning lessons are designed for a student who is of the typical age for that grade level. They tend to be silly, are cartoon-y and engaging. If your daughter objects to that, you might want to add the word "remedial" to your search for curriculum. Remedial programs are intended to teach more basic concepts to older learners, so they are pretty straightforward and less likely to offend.

Good luck in your search for a good match for your daughter!

Mom of six . . . current students and homeschool graduates. Enjoying using Time4Learning since 2006!
