Default Science and social studies curriculum

I just started using t4l to homeschool my 5y/o son. And as i read the reviews about this curriculum, one common thing was that parents seem to think that science and socialstudies curriculum is more of a supplement. So most of them decided to get another curriculum for the said subjects. Is this true?if so, whatcurriculum would you suggest?

With a five year old, I think books would be a better fit than a formal curriculum. There is a whole series of books called "Let's Read and Find Out." They are graded books so you can do the first level now and then next year do the second level. Amazon.com: let's read and find out

Chester Comix are great for learning history. My son still loves them.

Personally I think Time4Learning is a petty good free standing curriculum. But some people don't feel like it is enough. Especially for Kindergarten and First Grade.

I hope to see you over at the New York Parent Forum.

For science up through second grade, there's a very very nice online curriculum with offline real experiments that you can use for free in exchange for feedback.
