Default thinking of homeschooling my autistic son

I'm thinking of homeschooling my moderately autistic 7 year old (will be 8 in a few weeks). He is currently in public school and we're not exactly thrilled with his progress so far. Does anyone on here homeschool their special needs child and how do they like it?

Plenty of families on here homeschool their special needs child/children. You'll find a wealth of information in the Special Needs forum a little further down on the Board index.

I was planning to homeschool my son, who has autism, but right now, he's in a public school PreK program. I am still undecided as to what we'll do once he hits grade school since I homeschool the other children. There is a book you might want to check out called Home Educating Our Autistic Spectrum Children: Paths Are Made by Walking. Here's a link:

There is also a newer one out, titled Homeschooling the Child with Autism: Answers to the Top Questions Parents and Professionals Ask , though I haven't seen it in person.

    Hope that helps.
    Melissa.
