Default What subjects are need for pre-k through 8th grade?

    Hello,

I have a three year old son. He does have developmental delays and may have autism (still seeking a diagnosis). I was thinking of starting him on T4L pre-k next year.

I was wondering what subjects besides LA, Math, Science and SS are necessary for a "complete" education from pre-k through 8th grade? Which grade level do you start vocabulary, spelling, handwriting, writing, foreign language, art, music, and additional science and ss? What resources/additional curriculum material do you use to incorporate these subjects?

I know I have a long way to go before my son needs these subjects but I love to research what's out their, and hear what homeschooling pros have had success with.

Thanks in advance for your input.

    Susan

    Hi Susan!

Great questions, I was the same way you were when my own son who is now 11years old was 3 years old. I read everything I could get my hands on.

To find out what is expected for a complete curriculum for your state check out our State Groups and join the one that is your state. There you can find out what you need for what is expected for your state.

Other then your state, everyone has their own version of what a "complete" curriculum looks like. Some wills say Time4Learning is complete. Others will say they add handwriting or bible. Check out this blog post Supplemental Curriculum for your Core Curriculum it has some great ideas.

Have fun with your research. Just remember you know what your child can and can not handle. Take the your cues from your child.
